Turmeric Curcumin Benefits

Over the last 2 years I have been researching the health benefits of Turmeric Capsules & even finding the Best Turmeric supplement.

Turmeric

Turmeric has been used in Indian & other Asian country’s cooking for centuries. They seem to have known the health benefits way earlier than here in the west. Here in the west we suffer far more with bowel illnesses, such as crohn’s disease & ulcerated colitis than our Asian friends.

Turmeric Benefits

Time after Time Turmeric with it’s Curcumin (approx 3% content) have had positive results. They help with

  • Heartburn
  • Diarrhea
  • Depression
  • Stomach Bloating
  • Improves Liver Function
  • Lowers Cholesterol
  • Lowers Blood Pressure
  • Joint Aches & Pains
  • Diabetes
  • Bowel Cancer (still early stages of studies )
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Helps Fight Age-Related Illnesses
  • Helps With Crohns, Ulcerated Colitis & IBS
  • Helps With Ileo Anal Pouch ( my reason for trying  )

These are just a few things turmeric studies have found to benefit. Studies are still finding other health advantages. It is a anti-inflammatory & some research have said it’s as affective as normal anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen.

Turmeric Side Effects

As with anything you take, it depends on the individual. Tests have shown that taking too much can give you diarrhea. Some people have also suffered with stomach pain, from taking high dosage.

The one problem turmeric, curcumin does have is that it is hard for the body to absorb, that’s why some turmeric capsules include Black Pepper. Black Pepper contains Piperine, That helps the digestion of the capsules. You could also try taking with Fatty foods, This also helps with the digestion of the tablets.

It also thins the blood so anyone taking blood thinning drugs such as warfarin, should not take turmeric.

You can always ask your doctor if you are worried or concerned about taking turmeric.

Conclusion

I know this has nothing to do with massage or essential oils. But it is a health Benefit, specially for those who relied on lomotil & as a suffer I felt I had to share. This may not help everyone. But like me what have you to lose trying ? I would add I also take a probiotic capsule daily as well.

The reason I started my researching into Turmeric ? I have had an ileo anal j pouch (picture right)(https://massage-for-well-being.com/ulcerated-colitis-crohns-or-ibs)  for 17 years, & up to 2 years ago everything was great. But then I found it nearly impossible to get hold of LOMOTIL : co-phenotrope,  containing : Diphenoxylate – atropine. So I started suffering with the dreaded diarrhea ! So I began my search for a medication that would do the same as the Lomotil, But I also wanted something NATURAL with NONE or LESS side effects. Turmeric had so many startling results, I just had to get some & try for myself. After one week of taking 2 tablets a day,  things started to get better, I wasn’t getting up 4 to 6 times a night to toilet. I only get up once now, That’s just like when I took lomotil. I have had no side effects & to be honest, I’m totally surprised at the results. I wasn’t expecting to see any difference with it been a natural product. Will I stop taking them ? NO way I’m getting good sleep & feel way better than before I started taking them.

Thanks for reading The tablets below are what I take, they contain black pepper, so I have no worries with absorbing the capsules. Please click on image for more details

  1. Hi,
Yes turmeric has lots of benefits. I’m Indian and we put turmeric powder in almost all curries we make and eat daily so it’s intake is in orderly quantities and body gets just required amounts. You have shared some more benefits which I never knew. So are you taking tablets everyday or are you taking in powder form by adding them to your diet???

    1. Hi Saiprasad.
I take a tablet twice a day. That gives me my daily dose equally over the day.
Most of my research began in India. (not me going a may add ! shame. maybe one day ?) I researched ulcerated colitis & country’s where it’s not very common & guess what ? most Asian country’s don’t have very many sufferers.India had nearly none. So it had to be diet that made the difference !
In the end Turmeric was the answer.
      Thank you for your support.
      Stay Fit & Healthy.
