Can Massage Help with Functional Dyspepsia ?

A clinical study was carried out in February 2007 to observe the clinical efficacy of massage therapy in the treatment of functional Dyspepsia.

80 sufferers randomly split into 2 groups. 40 were treated with massage therapy. The other 40 were treated by cisapride ( This drug was withdrawn in the UK in 2000 because of the side effects ) over a 4 week period.

The Study Surveyed :

  • Abdominal Fullness
  • Acid Regurgitation
  • Diminished Appetite
  • Anorexia
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Overall Health

Each sufferer was then marked & scored  & results recorded.
Both methods were effective for Functional Dyspepsia.

With Nerves & Anxiety being some of the causes of Functional Dyspepsia, Massage is very effective in helping with these symptoms.

What can Help with Functional Dyspepsia ?

Some of the Alternatives :

  • Acupuncture
  • Therapeutic Touch
  • Herbal Remedies
  • Colour Therapy
  • Hypnosis
  • Aromatherapy
  • Massage Therapy

As you can see Massage will help with FD. Aromatherapy massage will work the best, just because of it’s relaxing effect on the body & mind. But I have done another page on HYPNOMASSAGE with hypnosis helping as well as massage, put the two together & you will have a better well being in no time at all.

Essential Oils That can Help Functional Dyspepsia

I know the page is about massage for FD, but I can’t leave  Essential Oils out.

Ginger in any form has shown to help with the symptoms of FD. But 100% pure organic Ginger Essential Oil should work the best.

Peppermint, Lavender, Caraway, Rose & Clary Sage Essential Oils all have properties that can help with FD.

Lavender, Rose & Clary Sage Can all be used in abdominal massage ( gentle massage only ). Some Spas in the UK don’t do abdomen massage, you may after explain your condition & any good therapist will bespoke the massage to help you condition.

Conclusion

Like many conditions around today, we don’t know a lot about them until you know someone or have personally suffered with them. Some have no answers to how they start & what causes them. Mine included ULCERATED COLITIS ! During my many trips to hospital over 19 years of suffering with UC, I spoke with several FD sufferers.

I find it interesting looking up information about any of the digestive tract & finding healthier remedies then the normal medications, that always seem to have too many  side effects. 19 years of speaking with sufferers of FD & other gut problems has given me plenty to think about, & many had there own home remedies that they shared with me.

If you have any comments. Please leave them below, or any other conditions that we need to speak about ? .
