Can Massage & Essential Oils Help Reduce Scar Redness ?
I’m going to be talking from experience of my own body here ! the 2 pictures I have featured are of my right calf muscle, you can still see the scar, but not a lot. & the other from a operation on my tummy, this has started to fade a lot over the last 2 years from massage and essential oils. I will be explaining 2 simple massages to do and 3 essential oils that should help reduce the redness of scars. But I have to warn you that most massage therapists & doctors will tell you not to do anything in the first 6 months, Just give the wound a little time to heal.
Both are very easy to do, but will help with the scar tissue.
First is called Tranverse Friction : Moving the hands side to side over the scar, using essential oils . That’s simple Right ?
The second is just as easy & it’s called Circular Friction : you do small circular movements around & over the scar, using essential oils.
That’s it !! Definitely Anyone can do these massage techniques.
Best 3 Essential Oils ( My Personal Choices )
First I would like to add, never buy essential oils that don’t say pure essential oils or 100% essential oils. Synthetic oils will not give you any benefits at all !
Frankincense : When I did my research a few years ago, Frankincense can up nearly all the time. From helping reduce stretch marks to relieving stress. But for scars it came out the best in books, magazine reviews & the internet. With it’s anti inflammatory ,soothing & calming property’s.
Lavender : Yet again lavender come’s out in my top 3 ! It also has anti-inflammatory property’s & helps break up scar tissue, making the scar feel softer. Lavender & frankincense can be mixed together with a base oil. You will only need 2 to 3 drops of both.
Helichrysum : Another with anti-inflammatory property’s & will help reduce the scars appearance.
I would like to add that I do these techniques on a evening, 30 minutes before bed. 2 to 3 times a week.
